Sepimax Zen Polymer

$10.55

SEPIMAX ZEN™ is a next-generation thickening, stabilizing and texturizing powder polymer. It has a MAXimal resistance to electrolytes and can be used to formulate with greater creativity and peace of mind. It is a non-microplastic polymer.

SEPIMAX ZEN™ is the perfect polymer for building the “chassis” of formulations and addressing the challenge of stress-inducing and difficult active ingredients. It forms transparent gels with a velvety, rich and elegant feel. It is versatile and can be used in both skin care and hygiene products.

INCI: Polyacrylate Crosspolymer-6

Country of origin: France

Properties

  • Ready-to-use: pre-neutralized powder
  • Cold or hot process
  • pH range: 2-8
  • Multifunctional: thickening, stablizing and texturizing
  • Extreme resistance to electrolytes up to 10% salt
  • “Chassis” behavior in the presence of electrolytes (without viscosity drop)
  • Forms clear aqueous gels
  • Excellent particle suspension power
  • Sprayable fluid to thick textures
  • Synergetic effect with SOLAGUM™ TARA
  • Compatible with ethanol and other solvents, surfactants, AHAs, salicylic acid, zinc pyrithione, sun filters and sunscreens, pigments, etc.
  • Excellent vaginal tolerance

 Benefits

  • Clear aqueous gel
  • Rich, elegant skin feel with a velvet finish
  • Produces finer and softer foams in a hygiene product

Applications

  • Face & body care
  • Sun care
  • Hair care
  • Make-up
  • Hygiene (shampoo, shower gel, facial cleanser, intimate hygiene, hydro-alcoholic gel…)
Usage: As Emulsifier-stabilizer and thickener - 0.5 - 5%
For Suspending properties - from 0.15%

Appearance: White powder
pH as supplied: 4 - 5.5 (When formulated in a 1.5% aqueous gel)
Stability: Stable between pH 2 - pH 8
HLB: Not applicable (Anionic)

When used in a lotion, it can be used as a stabilizer for up to 15% oils and 4% electrolytes at as low as 2%. Without electrolytes, it can stabilize up to 20% oils.

For cream-gels, SepiMAX ZEN should be added in the oily phase (hot or cold). Its hydration time is approximately 10 minutes, but the polymer may also be left to hydrate for a few hours without stirring; then it can be mixed rapidly by dispersant agitation to obtain an aqueous gel.

SEPIMAX ZEN™ can be used to make low pH gels, and can be used with up to 4% glycolic acid, 0.1% magnesium chloride, and 0.2% EDTA.

It is compatible with silicons, mineral oil, emollient esters oils and butters.  It is an anionic emulsifier, so it is not compatible with cationic ingredients.

SEPIMAX ZEN™ is anionic so it does not work well with cationic ingredients such as BTMS-50 or Honeyquat PF.  However, it does work very well with electrolytes and acidic pH levels.

Key benefits:

  • Efficient use at low levels
  • Clear aqueous gel
  • High resistance to electrolytes
  • Wide pH range, even at acidic pH
  • Suspending properties
  • Synergies with other polymers or emulsifiers
  • Elegant sensory profile
  • No neutralization
  • Can be used in hot and cold process formulations
  • No clumping
