Olivem 1000

Olivem® 1000 is a COSMOS-validated, PEG-free, plant-derived oil-in-water (O/W) emulsifier widely used in natural and professional cosmetic formulations. Supplied as easy-to-handle ivory waxy flakes, Olivem® 1000 functions as a multifunctional emulsifier and moisturizing ingredient for skin care, hair care and cosmetic products.

Made from olive-derived fatty acids, Olivem® 1000 has a lipid composition designed to be compatible with the natural structure of the skin. It can form liquid crystal structures that mimic the organization of the stratum corneum, helping create elegant, stable emulsions with a soft and moisturized skin feel.

Olivem® 1000 can be used as the sole emulsifier in oil-in-water emulsions or as a co-emulsifier to improve formulation texture, stability and sensory properties.

It can help improve wet combability and may also be used as an emulsifying base in more traditional conditioner formulations containing cationic ingredients, providing formulators with additional flexibility when developing hair care products.

Recommended Usage

As sole emulsifier: 3–5% in oil-in-water (O/W) emulsions
As co-emulsifier: 0.5–2%
General recommended concentration: 0.5–5%
